A trip to Beecher Creek Falls is a worthwhile drive, if not for the waterfall, then to see the covered bridge at this location.  According to the New York State Covered Bridge Society, there are only 24 covered bridges remaining in New York State.  Some of them, including the one in Jay, New York, also have waterfalls near them.  Edinburg is located north of Broadalbin and east of Northville on a peninsula of sorts that juts into the Great Sacandaga Lake.  After crossing the Batchellerville Bridge, take a right at the first crossroads which is Route 4.  You will go for about 0.5 mile, down a hill and the road will bend right.  You will find a little park on your right where the falls and bridge are located.

We have read that the Edinburgh Historical Society has received a grant and additional funding and have restored the bridge.  We assume that the park is sponsored by them or the town.  It is a charming little area, which is also handicapped accessible.  There is a paved trail leading down to the covered bridge where excellent views of the falls are possible from the bridge and the other side of the stream.  There is also a fenced viewing area upstream next to the falls.

The falls themselves are also a very pretty sight.  Forming a natural rock set of stairs, the water cascades in several steps.  Between the falls, the bridge and the ease of access, this is a very relaxing stop.

The Beecher Creek flows into the Great Sacandaga Lake, which is part of the Sacandaga River.  This water continues its journey to the Hudson River and eventually reaches the Atlantic Ocean.
