While on NYS Route 9N in the village of Lake Luzerne, you will
pass Wayside Beach to the east. Directly across 9N from this
is Mill Street. The waterfall is just off this corner.
Park on the side of the street. Mill Park Falls is somewhat
unique, at least for this website. There are many instances
where falls are unnamed so we do our best to give them a
descriptive label. In this case, the falls are named, but we
can find no reference to the waterway they are on. Since
this waterway is the outlet from Lake Luzerne to the Hudson River,
we have named it as we have. Even upstream from Lake Luzerne,
the stream feeding it, and another stream feeding it, are not
identified. Having said that, we have not researched this on
the local level. If anyone knows the actual name of this
waterway, please contact us. At the top of these falls is a
small mill pond retained by what appears to be a man-made
structure, perhaps a dam at one time. From that, there is a
series of steps and slides before the main drop next to an old
structure, perhaps a former mill, on the other side of the
channel. Your best views of the falls from downstream are
actually from below that mill.
Lake Luzerne empties through this waterway into the Hudson River,
which flows into the Atlantic Ocean.
