Google Maps has the location listed as Crane Pond
Road Trailhead in Schroon Lake, NY. From The
Adirondack Northway I-87, take exit 28 for
Ticonderoga. Head east on NY 74 for 100 yards
to the first intersection. Turn right on US 9 south
for 0.5 mile, then left on Alder Meadow Road.
In 2.1 miles, Crane Pond Road will exit left.
In 1.4 miles, you will come to the parking lot on
the left at the end of the road.

 A hike of just over 1 mile round trip will take you
to four waterfalls on Alder Creek. Based on
the information we had, we were expecting to see one
waterfall, #3. We were pleasantly surprised to find
4 waterfalls. Take the Crane Pond Road
Trail heading south out of the parking lot. This is
an old logging road and is fairly flat making for an
east hike. The first waterfall requires a little
off trail adventure but is well with it. At
0.3 miles from the parking lot you should hear the
sound of rushing water off to your left. There is
no path over to the creek so choose your path of
least resistance. It’s only about 100 yards from
the trail and the forest is pretty open.
Waterfall #1 is a long cascade with a total drop of
approximately 25”. You won’t be able to capture the
entire falls from a single vantage point so work
your way up and down stream to enjoy the beautiful
setting that surrounds this waterfall.
After taking this one in, retrace your
steps back to the trail and continue up the road 0.2
miles to reach waterfalls #2 - #4.
Alder Creek flows into Schroon River.
This flows through Schroon Lake which joins the Hudson River
just southwest of Warrensburg. This, in turn, flows to the
Atlantic Ocean in New York City directly to Lake
Champlain.
