Continue you walk upstream on the Gill Brook. It will
only take you about four minutes to get to Falls #2 from the
first waterfall. It will be just past where a small
tributary flows into Gill Brook on river right.
At about 20', we are calling this a segmented ribbon falls.
It is segmented because the crest of the waterfall divides the
flow into multiple "segments". In this case, a huge
boulder creates two drops, each of them a narrow "ribbon".
Also note that we have listed this as being in the Keene
Valley USGS topographical quadrangle. It is very close to
the border and may well be in the Mt. Marcy quadrangle.
The Gill Brook empties into the East Branch of the Ausable River
not far downstream from here. The east branch joins forces
with the west branch at Au Sable Forks to form the Ausable River,
which empties into Lake Champlain in the town of Peru.
