Accessing Bray House Falls, also known as The Potholers, from the road is quite easy.  Getting to this roadside parking area is something else!  NYS Route 8 runs east-west through the heart of the Adirondack Mountains between Poland and Speculator, New York.  In the area of Piseco Lake, Route 10 begins and leads south.  About 1.2 miles from Route 8, just after crossing a bridge over the Piseco Outlet, there will be a road on your right.  Although we are told it is known as the Powley Road, there are no signs that we saw that identifies it.  At about 10.4 miles down this dirt road, you will cross a creek.  If you miss it, almost immediately after it is a gate, that was open when we were there in 2011.  This may be the Hamilton/Fulton County line.

Park on the roadside and proceed downstream ... to your left as you were approaching.  The stream you are following is the Brayhouse Brook.  Within 0.1 miles, you will reach a junction of this brook with the East Canada Creek.  Turn left and go upstream another 0.1 miles to the falls.  For those who may be curious, our information is that the brook is Brayhouse but the falls are Bray House.  Maybe someday we will determine why there is a difference.  Also, the falls are not on the Brayhouse Brook, but are on East Canada Creek.

As for the falls, they are a multi-step drop that is almost a natural waterslide running along an estimated 25' of the river.  It is a very pretty location and an excellent place to sit on the rocks and enjoy your picnic lunch or at least a drink and a snack.

Our pictures were taken in September 2011.  Most certainly, there would have been a much higher volume of water flowing in the spring of the year.

The East Canada Creek flows into the Mohawk River between Little Falls and St. Johnsville.  The Mohawk then flows to the Hudson before reaching the Atlantic Ocean.
